See - Do - Teach

The SEE - DO - TEACH methodology of learning new skills, which is used in the medical field and apprenticeship programs. The page explains the three steps of this method: SEE how a task is done by an expert, DO the task yourself, and TEACH someone else how to do it.

Step 1 - Get Data and Build a Report

Kratos BI Data
UPDATED 7/6/2020 The Kratos BI Dataset is a well built Tabular model built off of the Adventure Works DW 2012 database. This dataset contains best practices for tabluar modeling, DAX statements, and other aspects of working in a Tabular model. This dataset will be updated on a regular basis as part of Blog or YouTube videos.
Kratos BI PowerBI Report

UPDATED 6/27/2020 The Kratos BI Power BI Report is built off of the Kratos BI Dataset and can be used to see how a variety of different things are done within Power BI. The Kratos BI report is a good place to look if you are trying to understand how something is done. This sample report will be updated and expanded as part of Blog or YouTube videos.

Kratos BI Excel Report

UPDATED 9/12/2021 The Kratos BI Excel Report is built off of the Kratos BI Excel Seed using the Adventure Works Dataset and can be used to see how a variety of different things are done within Excel using Power Query and Power Pivot. The Kratos BI Excel Report is a good place for Excel users to get started with these tools.

Step 2 - Make Your Report Look Perfect

Kratos BI Power BI Theme
The Kratos BI Power BI Theme is a good way for you to get started building out and maintaining a custom theme for your Power BI content. I would highly recommend using this as a starting block to add in your company's standard colors. This theme will be used in all Kratos BI Blog posts and Videos.
Kratos BI Backgrounds
UPDATED 6/27/2020
The Kratos BI Background Power Point is used to create the images used as report page backgrounds in all of the reports built and demoed in these blogs and videos. This Power Point is a great starting place for people looking to build out great looking reports.
Kratos BI Visuals

As Seen on Guy in the Cube!!!

Kratos BI Visuals helps you test other themes and build out your own custom BI theme by helping you see all of the standard Power BI visuals within one report. Having all of the visuals in one place helps ensure that changes to the theme do not adversely impact other visuals.

Step 3 - Easily Build Out A Great User Experience

Kratos BI Power BI Seed
UPDATED 8/9/2020
The Kratos BI Power BI Seed can be used to quickly build out your own Power BI report template with built in navigation best practices. Common names and navigation ensure that your users are easily able to navigate your content. This allows for rapid iteration while minimizing the learning curve for consumers of information.
Kratos BI Excel Seed

UPDATED 8/22/2021

Kratos BI Excel Seed file can be used by BI analysts to take advantage of the capabilities of Excel while retaining a common Dataset in Power BI. This template addresses a number of different subject areas that BI developers need to cover as part of most solutions.

Step 4 - Use the Right Visual For The Data

Kratos BI Data Visualization Guide
The Kratos BI Power BI Data Visualization Guide can help you build better Power BI reports by helping you select the right visuals to convey different data stories. The Data Visualization Guide has purposefully been built within Power BI to enable companies to deploy these as part of their internal COE and for individuals to see the visuals in-use within Power BI.
