Josh Caplan is a Principal Program Manager at Microsoft focused on the new Azure Synapse Analytics Platform. Previously Josh was a Principal Group Program Manager at Microsoft currently working on professional BI experiences for Power BI, SQL Server Analysis Servers and Azure Analysis Services.
Prior to that role Josh drove the developer experiences for Power BI and spent several years on the Bing team developing BI on Bing’s massive data. Josh has developed BI solutions for other companies including the Lincoln Financial Group and the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia.
DATA GOD QUALIFICATIONS
Over the last decade, Josh has pioneered what it means to do Business Intelligence across truly Big Data. Josh built and managed some of the first Petabyte size Business Intelligence solutions for both internal and external customers at Microsoft. For the past decade, Josh has utilized these insights and knowledge to help craft Power BI into the world's best Business Intelligence platform.
Josh's responsive nature to the ever-changing digital and data landscape has earned him the title of the Data God of Reaction.

Josh's passion for data and making data accessible via a self-service framework has made Mr. Caplan a true leader and visionary in the field. This vision has translated into features across all of the Power BI platform and has altered the way the world looks at how people turn data into understanding.
Josh's leadership around the life cycle of SQL Server Analysis Services made it possible for companies to easily migrate solutions into Power BI and out to Azure. This strategic approach to the management of technology has enabled the rapid adoption and transition from previous reporting solutions to Power BI.
DATA GOD FUN FACT
While in college, this Data God worked as a projectionist at IMAX movies in a science museum.
True to the scientific nature of such an important role, the first IMAX film Josh projected was Disney's The Lion King and the last film was Harry Potter.
He was working in the US, after all. :)
